Vietnamese background
Vietnamese is the official language of Vietnam. There are more than 90% people in the country speak this language. Vietnamese is one kind of tone language and distinguished by the tones; it has much similarity with Khmer, Thai language and Chinese. The relationship between Chinese and Vietnamese is very close caused by history. In vocabulary, Vietnamese borrowed from Chinese in large areas. The linguistics always calls these borrowed Vietnamese words from Chinese are-Han Yue words. By statistics, 60% of Han Yue words are from total vocabulary of Vietnamese glossary. In grammar, Vietnamese is in structure of “subject-verb-object”. The difference between Chinese from Vietnamese is: attributive modifier should be put in behind of the modified-word, except this, the other grammatical features of Vietnamese are almost the same with Chinese.

The language is the communication tool of human being, and the letter is the writing symbol for recording of languages. There are three dialect areas of this language: the north dialect regions centered by Hanoi, the middle dialect regions centered by Hue and the south dialect centered by Saigon. The Standard mandarin will be based on dialect in Hanoi and adjacent area. There is not big difference among them and almost can communicate with each other.
